Gary Xu is a Vice President of Research at Samsung Research America, where he leads the 6G Terahertz technology and system prototyping development. His team demonstrated an end-to-end wireless beamforming test at 140GHz in 2021. He also led team and developed the world’s first commercially viable 5G FD-MIMO (massive MIMO) basestation prototype in 2015. Before joining Samsung in 2012, he worked as a system engineer at Nokia Research Center, and later at Texas Instruments. He received his B.S. in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China and M.S. in electrical and computer engineering from Rice University, Houston, TX in 1996 and 1999, respectively.
