Dr. Mallik, as CTO of Ericsson Group Function Technologies & Architectures based in Silicon Valley, responsible for innovation, incubation, technology strategy & leadership efforts focusing on 5G, distributed cloud/edge compute, SDN/NFV, AI/ML and Internet of Things (IoT). Before joining Ericsson, Mallik was VP/GM & CTO of Service Provider, Cloud & IoT solutions at F5 networks. Prior to F5, he held various leadership positions at Juniper, Cisco, Motorola, Nortel and Indian Telephone Industries.

He has a unique experience of developing industry’s most powerful innovations, standards contributions, products/solutions, design implementation of early real-world deployments working with telecommunication operators, and also innovating for the future, working with academia, by anticipating what might happen next, to accelerate the architectural transitions in the telecommunication industry from 2G to 5G. He has identified strategic opportunities and implemented programs in networking technologies that have brought world-leading innovations to the sector with a multi-billion dollars impact, launching over 50 products/solutions that are deployed in global telecom networks.

In recent years, he has had a profound impact on “5G” and its ecosystem as an advisor to industry alliances and a keynote speaker. He has been passionately involved in developing industry-academia partnerships in Canada, US, UK and India. He has mentored over 150 undergrad/graduate students, delivered 400+ keynote/invited/panel/tutorials, co-authored 2 books, 100+ publications/patents, served on 40+ IEEE conference committees, and offered lectures/industry seminars at Stanford, UC Berkeley, Univ. of Tokyo, IIT Delhi etc., Since 2011, he has been a visiting professor at Kings’ College London, where world’s 1st 5G network was demonstrated together with Vodafone and Ericsson. He has been featured in prestigious telecom magazines such as, Informa’s MWC’2013 & MWC’2014 (Barcelona) special issues)  and participated in “The Economist, Financial Times, Gartner/Evanta, and Nikkei roundtable discussions”.

He has PhD, Master's and bachelor’s degrees in “telecommunication engineering and networking technologies” from The University of Tokyo (Japan), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai (India) and National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal (India) correspondingly. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE), and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET, UK). Mallik serves on advisory board of “Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA)”, “Governing body member of Evanta/Gartner San Francisco Bay Area CIO Council,” Venture Capital (VC) CxO councils. He received UC Berkeley’s Garwood Center for Corporate Innovation award in 2019, and executive of the year’2016 award for his contributions to telco NFV.
