Dr. Anton Monk is CTO of Wireless Initiatives at Viasat, Inc, a global provider of high-speed satellite broadband services and secure networking systems. At Viasat, he helps bring broadband internet service to unserved international rural communities, working at the intersection of technology, spectrum policy, and business partnerships. Before that he was VP of technology strategy, business development and partnerships at XCOM Labs, which develops innovative wireless technologies in new 5G verticals such as industrial robotics & automation and multiuser AR/VR. Previously, he was VP of Strategic Alliances and Standards at Cohere Technologies, which developed a groundbreaking wireless modulation technique for next generation 5G cellular communications. He was a co-founder & held the roles of VP & CTO of Entropic Communications, a publicly traded semiconductor company that invented the MoCA home networking solution used by Pay TV service providers for multi-room DVR throughout the U.S. He holds more than 25 granted patents. Prior to co-founding Entropic he was involved in the development of cable, satellite and wireless integrated circuits at Conexant and ComStream Corporation and was a researcher at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He sits on various industry, advisory and academic boards, including Hearing Lab Technology, the Wireless Broadband Alliance, and the UCSD Jacobs School Dean’s Council of Advisors. Dr. Monk earned a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and B.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UCSD.
